ASANA

Dynamic asana is the temple gate in dance to sacred devotion through your own form. In my practise and sharing of the yoga teachings I have always been driven by inner silence and the desire to know myself in this body. The body is a vehicle, not an end in itself, but if you dance through life rather than compete you will come to embody Beauty.

I teach mostly dynamic Hatha Yoga although I have trained in many kinds of styles. I teach Astanga, Dynamic Heart-based Vinyasa (Anusara-Inspired) and alignment-based Hatha. I teach both mixed level and classes for more intermediate/experienced students. Beginners are also welcome at some of my classes and occasionally I offer courses specifically for beginners or advanced practitioners. There are retreat opportunities where you can immerse yourself in practise (a life changing experience), and workshops focusing on specific areas of practise or combined practises incorporating body, breath and other tangible portals to consciousness transformation. See you on THE MAT.

Asana - Vinyasa & Astanga: About Us

ASTANGA VINYASA

Astanga Vinyasa is a strong, dynamic practise incorporating precise sequences with breath counts in an unbroken flow that is meditation in movement. It is the fundamental of almost all modern day Vinyasa practises, and if practising other forms it is essential - in my biased view - to familiarise yourself with this practise. I admire the modern forms that are evolving, but this is the Source of these forms and I love to share it undiluted - as it was taught to me by those who learnt it direct from Pattabhi Jois. It is a strong, hot practise, where the breath and movement create sweat and heat to detoxify and nourish. If you come to practise here, I offer what I learnt from my teachers, and integrate good alignment and the Knowing of The Inner Guru.

If you are interesting in authentic Astanga practise, I offer classes and a new 90 hour training for teachers to embody a solid understanding of Primary Series Astanga as taught by Pattabhi Jois to his first students. I have studied with some of the foremost ashtanga teachers as well as Pattabhi Jois and his original Certified Teachers, and I have trained to teach Primary and Intermediate Series three times over. I have taught Astanga at Triyoga daily assisting my teachers Joey Miles, Ryan Spielman and Eileen Gauthier, taught led classes since 2008 at other London studios, taught led or Mysore-style  at all the main Bristol studios, as well as in Glastonbury, and in India, Nepal, and Thailand since 2008. Astanga has been the heart of my dynamic asana practise since 2004. I practise into 3rd series and I mostly encourage Mysore Style learning where possible.

Anything offered here is in service to the Astanga Teachers I have been so graced to have learnt from. Blessed are the feet who walk lightly upon this sacred Ground.

ANUSARA INSPIRED VINYASA

Anusara is the practise of flowing 'with Grace', playful and inspired by the essence of Creativity, this is the Creative Force in motion - sequences inspired by attention to alignment and rooted in the connection to the openness of the Spirit as Anahata.

I have trained with Bridget Woods Kramer one of the foremost Anusara teachers in the UK and have been shearing the teachings since 2010, as well as using them in balance with Astanga Vinyasa.
